Jane Hotel

The Jane has a long history, first serving as a sailors' hostel in the 1900's. Now, more than a century later, The Jane is a 'boutique budget flophouse'. Modelled on ships' cabins, each of the 50 single-berth rooms is a study in style, thrift and efficiency.

Owner and hotelier Sean McPherson bought the property in 2007, and restored it to its 1908 state. He admits that The Jane is "not for everyone". Spacious it isn't: single rooms are 50 sq ft. Amenities are minimal. Room service consists of the menu of a nearby deli that delivers. But what the rooms lack in space they make up for in character.
